Live/Work Loft

I designed, gutted and rehabbed the interior of this 4000 square foot live/work loft in Los Angeles, CA. Previously a sweatshop, the loft included my workshop and my wife's painting studio. The design was comprised of a simple geometric repeat based on an 84" module, an extension of the geometry of the existing 1964 modern facade. The goal was to use affordable and readily available materials executed with an attention to detail and composition. The kitchen countertops are cast from bagged concrete, the oversized pocket door hardware are barn door track, the ceiling fans and lighting are commercial, etc. I fabricated all of the cabinetry, bookcases, pocket doors and furniture.
